Build your firm website
Start your firm's public website from a template, then change the pages, words, photos, colours and fonts. Everything stays in a draft until an admin publishes it.
Before you start
Open Website under Firm in the side menu. If your firm's plan doesn't include the website, the page shows which plans do instead. See your plan and subscription.
Anyone in your firm can build and edit the site. Only firm admins can publish it.
Choose a template
- On Website, click Choose a template.
- Pick a Practice type to narrow the six designs, or leave it on All.
- Click Preview to see a template with your firm name in it.
- Click Use this template.
- Under Web address, check the free address Chronica suggests from your firm name, or type another. It ends in .chronica.legal and can use lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens.
- Wait for the message that the address is free, then click Create website.
The site opens as a draft, with the template's pages filled with sample content. Replace it with your own before you publish.
Edit a page
- Click Edit site, or click Edit next to a page under Pages.
- Pick the page to work on from the page list at the top of the editor.
- Click a section on the page, then change its words, photos and links in the panel beside it.
- Use Add a section to drop in a new section, such as Our team, Practice areas, Enquiry form or Book a consultation.
- Click Preview to check the page at desktop, tablet and phone widths.
The editor saves as you go. The top of the editor shows Saving…, then Saved with the time. Photos can be JPEG, PNG, WebP, SVG or GIF, up to 5 MB each.
Select an Our team or Practice areas section and click Import team or Import practice areas. Names and roles come from your staff list, and practice areas from your firm profile.
An Enquiry form on your site sends enquiries straight to Intake. See track enquiries and leads.
Add and arrange pages
- Open the Pages tab and click Add page.
- Start from one of the template's pages or choose Blank page.
- Enter a Title. Chronica fills in the Address from it; change it if you like.
- Leave Show in the main menu on if visitors should see it in the menu, then click Add page.
Under Navigation, drag pages to change the menu order, and use the eye button to hide a page from the menu. Hidden pages still open from links and buttons.
To rename a page, change its address or set what Google shows for it, click the three-dot button next to the page and choose Title, address and search. Changing the address breaks links people have saved to the old one. The home page can't be deleted.
Set your theme
Open the Theme tab to change how every page looks:
- Logo and name: your logo and the firm name used in the header, footer and browser tab.
- Colours: start from a preset or set each colour. The Contrast check shows how readable your text is against each background.
- Fonts: choose one of eight font pairings.
- Buttons and corners: Square, Soft or Pill.
Click Save theme. Reset to the template's name puts back its colours, fonts and corners. Under Footer details, add your address, phone, email and up to 10 social links, then click Save footer.
Change template
On Website, click Change template, click Use this template on another design, then click Switch template. Your pages, words and photos stay. The layout, colours, fonts and buttons change, replacing any colours you set.
Questions
Can people see my site while I build it?
No. Theme and page changes save to your draft. Nothing is public until an admin publishes. See publish your website.
Two of us edited the same page. What happens?
If someone else saved first, your editor shows Not saved and nothing of theirs is overwritten. Click Reload page to see their version, then make your change again.
