What the calendar shows

Open Calendar from the main menu. It brings together:

  • Hearings from every matter, for the lawyers attending them
  • Consultations, meetings and other events you add
  • Deadlines: tasks due on a day, with no time set
  • Tasks due at a set time
  • time off, shown as blocked out

Each kind has its own colour. Use the chips beside Showing to hide or show Hearings, Consultations, Deadlines and Tasks.

Move around

  • Switch between Day, Week and Month at the top.
  • Use the arrows to go back or forward, and Today to come back to now.
  • Click People to choose whose diary you see. It starts with just you. Tick colleagues to add them, or use Everyone or Just me.

Open an item

  • Click a hearing to go to its matter's Court tab. Hearings are changed there, not on the calendar. See Cancel or move a hearing.
  • Click a task or deadline to open the task.
  • Click an event to see its details and edit it.

To reschedule an event, drag it to a new time. Repeating events can't be dragged; open the event to change the series. Chronica warns you if the new time overlaps another event, and won't let you drop an event onto your time off.

Add an event

  1. Click Add event, or click an empty slot on the calendar.
  2. Choose the Type: Consultation, Meeting or Deadline. Hearings are added from a matter's Court tab so the client can be reminded: see Add a hearing.
  3. Enter a Title.
  4. Pick the Date, then the From and To times. If someone is already busy then, Chronica says so and suggests another time.
  5. Link a Matter if the event belongs to one. It's optional.
  6. Under Who's coming, add colleagues or clients.
  7. Under Where, choose Our office, Their office, Video call or Phone, and add the address or link.
  8. Open More options: notes, reminders, repeat to add a description, reminders, or make the event repeat.
  9. Click Add to calendar.

Block out time off

  1. Click the arrow beside Add event and choose Block out time. You can also click Out of office when adding an event.
  2. Choose the Type and add a Reason (optional), such as "Annual leave".
  3. Pick the Date. Leave All day on, or turn it off and set the times.
  4. Click Add time off.

The time shows as blocked on your calendar. If you click a blocked-out slot to add an event, Chronica warns you, and events can't be dragged onto it.

Set your working hours

Click the arrow beside Add event and choose Working hours. Set when you can be booked. Clients only see booking slots inside these hours.

See a colleague's court day

Open People, tick a colleague, switch to Day, and turn off everything but Hearings under Showing.

Questions

Why isn't a hearing on my calendar?

Hearings show for the lawyers listed as Attending. Open the matter's Court tab, click Edit on the hearing, and add yourself.

Why doesn't a task show?

Only tasks with a due date appear. Add a due date to the task.
