Find your way around Today
Today is your home page in Chronica. See what each card shows, how to act on it, and how to choose a different page to open on.
Open Today
Click Today at the top of the sidebar, or click the Chronica logo. At the top you'll see the date, a greeting and one line that sums up your day, for example how many hearings you have today, how many tasks are due and how many new enquiries are waiting.
Two buttons sit on the right: Log time and New matter.

The four cards
This week
Your hearings and the calendar events you're invited to for the next seven days, in time order. The title changes to In court this week when everything on it is a hearing.
- Click a hearing to open the matter's Court tab.
- On a hearing that's today, click Log outcome once it's time to record what happened, or Open matter. If the client was sent a reminder, you'll see Client reminded with the date.
- On a meeting that's today with an online link, click Join meeting.
- Click Calendar to see the full calendar.
My tasks
Your tasks due in the next seven days, and any that are overdue. Each row shows the matter and when it's due: Today, a day of the week, or Overdue with the number of days. Tick the box to mark a task done. Click All tasks to open the full list.
Needs you
Things waiting on you or the firm, each with a figure and a link:
- Enquiries waiting for a conflict check
- Documents awaiting signature, and documents you have checked out
- Unbilled time and expenses
- Overdue invoices
When there's nothing to act on, the card says Nothing needs you right now.
Firm activity
What people in your firm did lately, such as opening matters, logging outcomes or sending documents, with the matter it relates to. It updates by itself. It comes from the audit log, so only firm admins see it. Everyone else sees a Matters card with recent matters instead.
Today for corporate and advisory work
If your firm's practice focus is corporate and advisory, or a mix, and your plan includes it, Today looks different. You get Compliance and Services buttons at the top, and cards such as Needs you, Active engagements by stage, Leads with filings due, New service orders and Retainers renewing. A mixed practice sees the court cards and the advisory cards side by side.
To choose which version you see, open your account menu (your name, top right), click My account, and use the Home page card. If the options are locked, your firm admin has set one version for everyone.
Open on a different page
If you'd rather start the day somewhere else:
- Click your name in the top right and choose My account.
- Under Working preferences, set Start page to Matters, Calendar, Intake or Time.
The first time you open Today after signing in, Chronica takes you to that page instead. After that, Today stays on Today.
Questions
Why is a card showing "Try again"?
That part of Today didn't load, usually because of the connection. Click Try again. The other cards keep working.

Use New in the top bar. See Search and the New menu.
