Set up your letterhead
Put your logo, firm details, partners and page numbers on every PDF and Word document you create from a template.
Your letterhead prints at the top and bottom of every page of the documents you create from a template, in both PDF and Word. You can make it in Chronica, use the one you already have in Word, or leave space for letterhead paper you print on.
Make your first letterhead
- Go to Settings › Letterhead.
- Click Set up your letterhead.
- Give it a name, such as Main office.
- Choose how to make it, then click Continue.
Your first letterhead becomes the firm default. Every template uses the default unless you choose another.
Build it here
- On Build it here, pick a Layout.
- Under Logo and colour, check the logo from your firm profile, or click Replace to upload another. Pick a Colour and a Letter font.
- Under Top of the page, tick what to show: firm name, address, phone, email, website and registration number. If you have more than one office, choose which address to print.
- Under Bottom of the page, add your partners with Choose people, other offices, an extra line and Page numbers.
- Under Page 2 onwards, choose the full letterhead, a short header, or nothing.
- Check the Preview, then click Save letterhead.
Use your Word letterhead
- In Word, open a letter your firm already sends, delete the letter's text and save it as a .docx file.
- On Upload from Word, click Choose Word file and pick the file.
- Read What we found in your file. If your file has no page numbers, leave Add page numbers on to add "Page 1 of 2" at the bottom right.
- Choose your Page margins, then click Save letterhead.
Word documents you create are built on your own file, so its header, footer, fonts and margins stay exactly as they are.
Print on letterhead paper
If you print on pre-printed paper, choose I print on letterhead paper and set Space at the top and Space at the bottom. Nothing prints in those spaces.
Check a test page
Click Download test page to get a two-page sample letter as a PDF. Save your changes first.
More than one letterhead
Click Add letterhead to make another, for example one for each office. Use … › Make this the default to change the default. A template's own letterhead is chosen in the template editor.
